## The Four Core Beneficiary Types

The UBEC Protocol supports four distinct but interconnected beneficiary profiles:

| Profile | Focus | Scale | Initial Token Range |
|---------|-------|-------|---------------------|
| 🌾 **Farmer** | Regenerative food production | Individual/Household | 1,000 - 50,000 UBEC |
| 🏘️ **Community** | Collective food sovereignty | Group/Neighborhood | 10,000 - 200,000 UBEC |
| 🌟 **Community Activator** | Facilitation & capacity building | Network/Regional | 20,000 - 100,000 UBEC (annual) |
| 🌱 **Living Lab** | Environmental education & citizen science | Institutional/Site | 5,000 - 25,000 UBEC (setup) |

### How the Profiles Connect

These four profiles form an interconnected ecosystem:

- **Farmers** produce food using regenerative methods and participate in local food networks
- **Communities** organize collective action for food sovereignty and support local farmers
- **Community Activators** facilitate connections, provide training, and build capacity across the network
- **Living Labs** integrate education, environmental monitoring, and citizen science with hands-on learning

You may find yourself connected to multiple profiles over time. A farmer might join a community, a community might host a living lab, and experienced participants might become community activators.

## Technical Setup: Creating Your Stellar Wallet

All UBEC tokens operate on the Stellar blockchain. You'll need a Stellar wallet to receive, hold, and transact with tokens.

### Quick Wallet Setup

**Recommended Wallet: Lobstr** (easiest for beginners)

1. **Download Lobstr**
 - iOS: [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/lobstr-stellar-wallet/id1404357892)
 - Android: [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lobstr.client)
 - Web: [lobstr.co](https://lobstr.co/)

2. **Create Your Account**
 - Open Lobstr and tap "Create Account"
 - Enter your email and create a strong password
 - Verify your email address

3. **CRITICAL: Secure Your Recovery Phrase**
 - Lobstr will display a 24-word recovery phrase
 - **Write it down on paper** — never store digitally
 - Store in a secure location (safe, safety deposit box)
 - This is your ONLY backup — lose it and you lose access forever

4. **Note Your Public Key**
 - Find your public key in the app (starts with "G")
 - This is the address you'll share to receive tokens
 - It's safe to share your public key

### Alternative Wallets

| Wallet | Best For | Platform |
|--------|----------|----------|
| **[Solar Wallet](https://solarwallet.io/)** | Desktop users | Mobile & Desktop |
| **[Freighter](https://freighter.app/)** | Developers | Browser Extension |
| **[Albedo](https://albedo.link/)** | Advanced users | Browser-based |

### Wallet Activation

New Stellar wallets require a minimum balance of **1 XLM** to activate:

- **Option 1:** Request activation from UBEC — We can send activation XLM as part of onboarding
- **Option 2:** Purchase XLM from an exchange (Coinbase, Binance, Kraken)
- **Option 3:** Ask a community member to send you activation XLM

### Setting Up Trustlines

Before receiving UBEC tokens, you must "trust" each token type. This is a Stellar security feature.

**UBEC Token Issuers:**

| Token | Code | Element | Issuer Address |
|-------|------|---------|----------------|
| **UBEC** | UBEC | 🌬️ Air | `GDPNB7S3IOM2J6C3NA2QG4TQAUCRZXPJJ4HSCCSIKELEH7ORUCX5UB2VN` |

## Understanding the Four Tokens

The UBEC ecosystem uses four interconnected tokens, each representing an element and Ubuntu principle:

### 🌬️ UBEC — Air — Diversity

**The Gateway Token**

- Your entry point into the ecosystem
- Represents universal access and inclusion
- Like air, freely available to all who participate
- Used for initial allocations and general transactions

**You receive UBEC when:** You join as a core beneficiary, complete milestones, or receive recognition for contributions.

### 💧 UBECrc — Water — Reciprocity

**The Flow Token**

- Represents balanced giving and receiving
- Tracks reciprocal exchanges within the network
- Like water flowing through a watershed
- Measures the health of economic flows

**You earn UBECrc when:** You engage in balanced exchanges, contribute to others, and maintain healthy reciprocity ratios.

### 🌍 UBECgpi — Earth — Mutualism

**The Stability Token**

- Represents long-term mutually beneficial relationships
- Measures stable partnerships and collaborations
- Like earth providing foundation
- Indicates depth of network integration

**You earn UBECgpi when:** You build lasting relationships, maintain consistent participation, and create mutual value with partners.

### 🔥 UBECtt — Fire — Regeneration

**The Transformation Token**

- Represents positive impact and system change
- Recognizes regenerative actions and outcomes
- Like fire catalyzing transformation
- Measures contribution to collective healing

**You earn UBECtt when:** Your actions create measurable positive impact, heal damaged systems, or enable others to thrive.

### Token Interaction

The four tokens work together as a complete system:

1. **Entry:** Receive UBEC tokens to begin participating
2. **Flow:** Engage in reciprocal exchanges to earn UBECrc
3. **Stability:** Build lasting relationships to accumulate UBECgpi
4. **Impact:** Create regenerative change to earn UBECtt

Your overall Ubuntu alignment is measured across all four dimensions.

## Understanding Your Holonic Journey

UBEC uses a "holonic" framework to recognize different levels of participation and contribution. A holon is both a whole in itself and part of a larger whole — just like you as an individual within your community within your bioregion.

### Holonic Categories

| Category | Score Range | Description |
|----------|-------------|-------------|
| **Observer** | 0.0 - 0.2 | Learning and exploring the ecosystem |
| **Participant** | 0.2 - 0.4 | Actively engaging in basic activities |
| **Contributor** | 0.4 - 0.6 | Regularly contributing value to the network |
| **Integrator** | 0.6 - 0.8 | Connecting others and facilitating collaboration |
| **Exemplar** | 0.8 - 1.0 | Modeling excellence and mentoring others |

### Starting Points by Beneficiary Type

| Beneficiary Type | Initial Category | Score Range |
|------------------|------------------|-------------|
| 🌾 Farmer | Participant | 0.4 - 0.6 |
| 🏘️ Community | Contributor | 0.6 - 0.8 |
| 🌟 Community Activator | Integrator | 0.6 - 0.8 |
| 🌱 Living Lab | Contributor | 0.6 - 0.8 |

### Five Evaluation Dimensions

Your holonic score is evaluated across five dimensions:

1. **Autonomy-Integration Balance**
 - How well you maintain independence while connecting with the collective
 - Neither isolated nor dependent — healthily interdependent

2. **Ubuntu Alignment**
 - How well your actions embody "I am because we are"
 - Prioritizing collective wellbeing alongside individual benefit

3. **Reciprocity Health**
 - The balance between giving and receiving
 - Healthy flow in both directions, avoiding extraction or depletion

4. **Mutualism Capacity**
 - Your ability to form and maintain beneficial relationships
 - Quality and depth of partnerships

5. **Regeneration Impact**
 - The positive change you create in the world
 - Measurable outcomes for people, place, and planet

### Growing Your Holonic Score

Your score evolves based on your actual participation and impact:

**Score Increases When You:**
- Engage consistently over time
- Build meaningful relationships
- Create measurable positive outcomes
- Support others in their growth
- Contribute knowledge and resources to the commons
- Maintain healthy reciprocity ratios

**Score May Decrease When You:**
- Disengage for extended periods
- Extract without giving back
- Fail to meet reporting commitments
- Damage relationships or trust

### Evolution Path

Over time, you can progress through the holonic categories:

```
Observer → Participant → Contributor → Integrator → Exemplar
```

Movement isn't automatic — it reflects genuine growth in Ubuntu alignment and network contribution.

## Ubuntu Principles in Practice

Ubuntu is not just a philosophy — it's a practice. Here's how to embody Ubuntu principles in your daily participation:

### Diversity (Air) 🌬️

**Practice:**
- Welcome newcomers and help them feel included
- Value different perspectives and approaches
- Share knowledge freely and openly
- Recognize that everyone has something to contribute

**Questions to Ask:**
- Who is missing from this conversation?
- How can I make space for different voices?
- What can I learn from those who are different from me?

### Reciprocity (Water) 💧

**Practice:**
- Track your giving and receiving
- Aim for balance over time (not transaction by transaction)
- Acknowledge what you receive
- Offer help before being asked

**Questions to Ask:**
- Am I giving as much as I'm receiving?
- How can I contribute to those who have helped me?
- What resources can I share?

### Mutualism (Earth) 🌍

**Practice:**
- Build relationships for the long term
- Look for win-win arrangements
- Be reliable and follow through on commitments
- Support partners' growth, not just your own

**Questions to Ask:**
- How does this benefit everyone involved?
- Am I building relationships or just transactions?
- How can we grow together?

### Regeneration (Fire) 🔥

**Practice:**
- Consider the impact of your actions on future generations
- Look for opportunities to heal and restore
- Transform problems into possibilities
- Leave things better than you found them

**Questions to Ask:**
- Does this action regenerate or deplete?
- How will this affect the seventh generation?
- What transformation is possible here?

## Reporting and Documentation

Transparency and accountability are essential to the UBEC ecosystem. All core beneficiaries commit to regular reporting.

### Reporting Schedule

| Beneficiary Type | Frequency | Due Date |
|------------------|-----------|----------|
| 🌾 Farmer | Quarterly | 15th of Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct |
| 🏘️ Community | Quarterly | 15th of Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct |
| 🌟 Community Activator | Monthly | 5th of each month |
| 🌱 Living Lab | Quarterly | 15th of Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct |

### What to Report

**All Beneficiaries Include:**

1. **Activities Summary**
 - What did you do this period?
 - Key milestones achieved
 - Challenges encountered

2. **Ubuntu Alignment Reflection**
 - How did you practice diversity, reciprocity, mutualism, and regeneration?
 - Specific examples and stories

3. **Network Contribution**
 - How did you contribute to the broader ecosystem?
 - Connections made, knowledge shared, resources contributed

4. **Token Usage** (if applicable)
 - How were UBEC tokens used?
 - Impact achieved with token resources

5. **Support Needs**
 - What help do you need?
 - Challenges you're facing
 - Resources that would be beneficial

### Documentation Best Practices

- **Keep it simple** — Brief, clear reports are better than lengthy ones
- **Be honest** — Include challenges, not just successes
- **Tell stories** — Narrative examples illustrate impact better than statistics alone
- **Use photos** — Visual documentation brings reports to life
- **Submit on time** — Late reports affect your holonic score
- **Ask for help** — If you're struggling with documentation, reach out

### Report Submission

Reports are submitted through the UBEC portal or to your designated liaison. You'll receive detailed instructions during your specific onboarding.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Getting Started

**Q: When will I receive my tokens?**
A: Token distribution typically occurs within 1-2 weeks after completing onboarding steps, including wallet setup and trustline configuration.

**Q: What if I lose my wallet recovery phrase?**
A: Unfortunately, there is no recovery if you lose your secret key/recovery phrase. This is why secure backup is critical. If you haven't funded your wallet yet, simply create a new one.

**Q: Can I use tokens immediately?**
A: Yes! Once received, tokens can be used for any eligible purpose within the ecosystem.

### Participation

**Q: What happens if I miss a report deadline?**
A: Late reports may affect your holonic score. If you're going to miss a deadline, communicate with your liaison in advance. Life happens — we work with you, not against you.

**Q: Can I change beneficiary types?**
A: Your primary beneficiary type is based on your application, but you may participate in multiple ways. Discuss with your liaison if your situation changes.

**Q: How long is my commitment?**
A: Initial commitments vary by beneficiary type (typically 1-2 years). However, UBEC is designed for long-term participation. We hope you'll be part of the ecosystem for years to come.

### Tokens and Wallets

**Q: Are UBEC tokens worth money?**
A: UBEC tokens are utility tokens designed for use within the ecosystem, not speculative investment. They enable participation, recognition, and exchange within the Ubuntu economy.

**Q: Can I sell my tokens?**
A: Tokens are primarily intended for ecosystem use. While the Stellar blockchain enables transfers, the value of tokens is realized through participation, not speculation.

**Q: What if I receive tokens I don't want?**
A: The trustline system prevents unwanted tokens. You only receive tokens you've explicitly trusted.

### Support

**Q: Who do I contact if I have a problem?**
A: Start with your UBEC liaison. For technical issues, contact the help desk. For peer support, reach out to your beneficiary network.

**Q: Is there training available?**
A: Yes! Training is provided during onboarding and ongoing. Check the resource library for self-paced materials.
