๐Ÿ’ง Participate in Reciprocity (Water) โ€” Flow & Exchange

A Complete Guide to Earning and Using UBECrc Tokens

The Flow of Giving and Receiving

"Water flows - giving life, receiving runoff, nourishing everything it touches."

The UBECrc token represents the Water element in the UBEC ecosystemโ€”the dynamic flow of value between community members. Just as water moves through a watershed, nourishing everything in its path, UBECrc tracks and rewards the reciprocal relationships that keep our economic commons healthy.

What is UBECrc (Water)?

UBECrc is the Reciprocity Creditโ€”earned through balanced giving and receiving. Unlike traditional currencies that only track transactions, UBECrc measures the quality of your economic relationships: Are you both giving AND receiving? Are your exchanges mutually beneficial?

What UBECrc Represents

  • Reciprocity โ€” Balanced giving and receiving creates health
  • Flow โ€” Value should circulate, not stagnate
  • Relationship Health โ€” Quality matters more than quantity
  • Mutual Benefit โ€” Both parties should gain from exchanges

Prerequisites: Start with Air

Before participating in reciprocity, you must first have your UBEC (Air) tokens. Air is your gateway to the ecosystem.

๐Ÿ“‹ Haven't started yet? See the UBEC Air Gateway Guide first.

Once you have your Stellar wallet set up with UBEC tokens, you're ready to add the Water element.

Setting Up Your UBECrc Trustline

To receive UBECrc tokens, you need to establish a trustline (just like you did for UBEC).

In your Stellar wallet:

  1. Go to "Assets" or "Manage Assets"
  2. Click "Add Asset" or "Add Trustline"
  3. Enter the token details:
Asset Code: UBECrc
Issuer: GBYOTGM27KLFNQQU3G6QWVEK7LQB36N6OX2YLYMN4WU3AFM4VRFZUBEC
  1. Confirm the trustline
  2. You're now ready to participate in reciprocity!

How Reciprocity Works

The Reciprocity Score

The UBEC system continuously monitors your economic relationships and calculates a Reciprocity Score based on:

Factor What It Measures
Balance Ratio How much you give vs. how much you receive
Unique Partners Number of different people you exchange with
Flow Consistency Regular exchanges vs. one-time transactions
Mutual Benefit Whether both parties gain from exchanges

The Ideal: Balanced Flow

Perfect reciprocity isn't about keeping exact scoreโ€”it's about maintaining healthy flows where everyone participates in both giving and receiving.

Healthy Reciprocity Looks Like: - You share your skills with others - Others share their skills with you - Value circulates through the community - No one is always giving or always receiving

Unhealthy Patterns: - Always giving, never receiving (martyr pattern) - Always receiving, never giving (extraction pattern) - Only exchanging with one person (isolation) - Large, infrequent transactions instead of regular flow

Earning UBECrc Tokens

UBECrc tokens are earned through reciprocal participation. The system evaluates:

1. Transaction Flow Analysis

The system tracks the flow of value in your transactions:

Reciprocity Ratio = Total Sent รท Total Received
  • Ratio โ‰ˆ 1.0 = Perfect balance (ideal)
  • Ratio > 1.0 = Net giver (also valuable)
  • Ratio < 1.0 = Net receiver (may need rebalancing)

2. Relationship Diversity

Exchanging with many different partners strengthens the network:

  • 1-5 partners = Building foundation
  • 5-15 partners = Active participant
  • 15+ partners = Network connector

3. Flow Metrics

The system measures circulation velocityโ€”how actively value moves:

  • Regular small exchanges = Healthy circulation
  • Hoarding or stagnation = Poor flow
  • Active participation = Strong flow health

Practical Ways to Participate

For Farmers

  • Share surplus harvest with community members
  • Trade produce for services you need
  • Exchange seeds, knowledge, or tools with other farmers
  • Offer farm visits or educational experiences

For Communities

  • Facilitate exchanges between members
  • Create skill-sharing networks
  • Organize community exchange events
  • Track and celebrate reciprocal relationships

For Individuals

  • Offer your skills to others in the network
  • Request help from community members
  • Participate in time banks or skill exchanges
  • Connect people who can help each other

Understanding Your Flow

Flow Transaction Records

Every exchange in the UBECrc system is recorded as a Flow Transaction with:

  • From Account โ€” Who sent value
  • To Account โ€” Who received value
  • Amount โ€” How much was exchanged
  • Direction โ€” Inbound, Outbound, or Circular
  • Memo โ€” Description of the exchange

Your Reciprocity Balance

Your Reciprocity Balance shows:

Metric Description
Total Received Sum of all value received
Total Sent Sum of all value given
Net Flow Difference (positive = net receiver)
Reciprocity Ratio Sent รท Received (1.0 = balanced)
Transaction Count Total exchanges
Unique Partners Number of different people

The 65/30/5 Distribution Model

Like all UBEC tokens, UBECrc follows the community-first distribution:

Allocation Percentage Purpose
General Community 65% Direct allocation to participants
Stewardship Reserve 30% Long-term sustainability
Administration 5% System operations

From Water to Earth and Fire

As you develop strong reciprocal relationships, you become eligible for the other elements:

๐ŸŒ Earth (UBECgpi) โ€” Stability & Mutualism

When your reciprocal relationships become stable and long-term, demonstrating consistent mutual benefit, you may earn Earth tokens.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire (UBECtt) โ€” Transformation & Regeneration

When your exchanges create transformative, regenerative impact in your community, you may earn Fire tokens.

Best Practices for Healthy Flow

โœ… DO

  • Engage in regular, consistent exchanges
  • Build relationships with diverse partners
  • Give generously when you have abundance
  • Ask for help when you need it (receiving is also giving!)
  • Document exchanges with clear memos
  • Celebrate reciprocal successes

โŒ DON'T

  • Hoard resources or avoid exchanges
  • Only give without ever receiving
  • Only receive without ever giving
  • Limit exchanges to just one or two partners
  • Focus on exact score-keeping
  • Extract value without contributing

Troubleshooting

"My reciprocity score is low" - Review your give/receive ratio - Consider whether you're predominantly giving or receiving - Seek opportunities for the side you're lacking - Build relationships with new partners

"I don't know what to exchange" - Everyone has something to offerโ€”skills, time, knowledge, resources - Ask community members what they need - Offer what you have in abundance - Start small and build from there

"Exchanges feel awkward" - Remember: reciprocity is natural and healthy - It's not about keeping scoreโ€”it's about relationship - Both giving and receiving strengthen community - Practice makes it easier

The Philosophy of Water

In Ubuntu philosophy, reciprocity recognizes that:

  • Giving and receiving are interconnected โ€” You cannot have one without the other
  • Flow creates life โ€” Stagnant water becomes stale; flowing water brings vitality
  • Everyone has value โ€” Both what you give and what you need matter
  • Relationships are wealth โ€” The quality of your connections defines your abundance

By participating in reciprocity, you embody the Water element: flowing, adapting, nourishing, and connecting all parts of the ecosystem.

May your exchanges flow freely, your relationships deepen, and your community flourish. ๐Ÿ’ง
